Sergio Morra is full professor of Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Genoa.
In 1979, he obtained his Master degree in General and Experimental Psychology at the University of Padua. At that time, Ph.D. programs did not yet exist in Italy, and research training was based on volunteer or paid assistantship. He was visiting researcher at the York University of Toronto, and Háskóli Íslands (i.e., University of Iceland, Reykjavík). His current research interests are: Working memory and executive functions; Children’s drawing; Comprehension of mathematical concepts; Neo-Piagetian models of cognitive development. Applied research on adaptation to the Italian school system of the “Number Worlds” curriculum for math teaching and on developmental tests of working memory and comprehension of mathematical concepts. He was chairman of the committee for the Ph.D. curriculum in “Psychology, Anthropology, and Cognitive Science” from 2003 to 2006, and coordinator of the Ph.D. program in “Psychology and Cognitive Science” from 2006 to 2009, at the University of Genoa. He was the principal organizer of EWOMS-3 (Third European Working Memory Symposium), held at Genoa in June, 2006. From 2016 to 2018, he has been member of the Evaluating Committee for National Scientific Habilitation (ASN) to positions of associate and full professor in the field of Developmental and Educational Psychology.
